NSW: Toddler, father suffer serious burns

A two-year-old boy and his father have suffered serious burns when a backyard fire exploded
at Tahmoor, just south-west of Sydney.

A spokesman for the NRMA CareFlight helicopter says the boy has been airlifted from Bowral
Hospital to Sydney's New Children's Hospital.

The boy was apparently helping his father burn off in their yard when something in the fire
exploded.

Both of them have suffered burns to their faces, arms and hands.

The father drove them both to Bowral Hospital, where he remains.

But staff decided the boy needed specialist care and sent him to Sydney with a specialist
paediatric medical team.
