Fed: Vaile says free trade deal with US good despite sugar

Trade Minister MARK VAILE says the free trade agreement with the United States delivers
for the broad Australian economy even though access for Australian sugar proved an insurmountable
problem.

Mr VAILE, who finalised the deal in Washington overnight, says this is only the third
such agreement reached between developed countries.

He says there were sensitive issues, including access to the US market for Australian sugar.
