Vic: Talks continue at Ajax to avert 10,000 stand-downs=2

Mr MELHEM says the Ajax workers were stood down without pay on Friday .. but still
manned equipment and furnaces over the weekend .. ready to re-start production immediately
an agreement was struck.

He says if a deal can't be reached in the next few hours .. it'll take up to two weeks
before the furnaces can be brought back on line.

Ford .. Holden .. and Melbourne brake components manufacturer PBR are expected to be
the first companies affected.
