Fed: McDiven set to make way for new Liberal president

Federal Liberal party president CHRIS MCDIVEN is expected to announce today she won't
seek another term .. continuing the party's cleanout after its election loss.

Her successor could be named as early as February.

Former foreign minister ALEXANDER DOWNER is among those tipped as a possible candidate
.. alongside Australia's high commissioner in London .. RICHARD ALSTON .. and Victorian
party powerbroker MICHAEL KROGER.
